Kim Stratford has been teaching and coaching at Tenison Woods College since 2007 after also working at local High Schools. Her experience includes roles as Year Level Manager, Faculty Coordinator and Sports Coordinator over her 16 year career.
Kim began her basketball as a junior player in Port Augusta before relocating to Adelaide where she played for West Adelaide, Noarlunga City Tigers and Forestville. In her time at each club, she was involved in a range of representative teams and development programs, including the South Australian Metropolitan squads from Under 16. Kim also was a member of the Adelaide Junior Development program where she participated in a variety of training programs and games.
Kim continued her involvement with basketball as a player in regional Victoria and South Australia after gaining employment following University. It was in this environment that Kim began coaching local junior representative teams. Following a number of semi-final appearances, Kim’s first State Championship as a coach came in 2006. She also coached a successful Tenison Woods College Year 8 team to a Championship in 2008, and since then has coached teams in all age groups to a number of grand final appearances – the most recent being the Year 10 girls’ team in 2011.
Kim has been involved in the Tenison Woods College Basketball Academy since its inception. Her experience as a player, coach and teacher has enabled her to participate in multiple USA tour groups as a coach and manager of teams. Kim has a drive and passion for basketball that fosters a unique relationship with her student athletes that promotes endeavor to achieve personal best results.
